In early 2020 Paul Weaver approached his two friends, James Troyer and Mike Taylor about the idea of building a first class sporting clays facility. Paul had a passion for shooting sporting clays and had recently purchased a farm adjacent to the Holmes County Airport. He felt that it would be an ideal location for building a sporting clays course.

Shortly thereafter the three businessmen acquired the Flying Ridge Hunt Club event center located next to the farm. The facility was named Airport Ridge Sporting Clays LLC. In January of 2021 we hired Doug Willams as our general manager. He continues to serve in that role. The event center was renovated, a new warehouse constructed, a professional course designer was engaged and two courses were constructed on 135 acres of pristine grassland and woods.

In July 2023 James purchased Paul ‘s interest and made the decision to expand the footprint. James, Mike and Doug have continued the concept of building a world class sporting clays facility.

Today we have three courses on 234 acres. The Orange course has 12 stations, the Black course has 19 stations and the Gray course has 16 stations. Each shooting station has an 8 x 8 covered stand with three Atlas traps and wireless controllers. In addition we have 4 FITASC parcours, an outdoor five stand and a heated and enclosed five stand. We also have five 65 foot towers strategically located throughout the courses that add to the shooting experience.

Our beautiful lodge and pro shop can accommodate 130 guests for corporate, private and charitable events. We also have a large outdoor pavilion.

Our goal from the beginning was to create a premier venue in the heart of Holmes County’s Amish community. A place that reflects our unique heritage and values. A place where you will be treated like family. A place where businessmen and women can connect. A place where families and friends can come together for fun and fellowship. A place called Airport Ridge.
